What Is A Precious Metal Trade In?

Our new trade in service is a simple way to turn jewellery you no longer wear into credit towards a new Libby Rak piece.

How it works

  • Book a “Precious Metal Trade-In” appointment (these take longer than a normal visit)
  • Bring your items in (broken is fine)
  • We’ll check the metal, then weigh and value it based on the live market rate on the day and the item’s verified purity (hallmarks/testing where needed).
  • You’ll receive a trade-in credit to use towards both new pieces and bespoke commissions/remodelling
  • Your trade-in credit can be used against up to 50% of the value of the new piece/project.
  • Once agreed, the metal is taken in as scrap/recycling and your credit is applied to your new piece.

A Few Helpful Notes

  • Trade-in credit is based on the precious metal value only (not the original retail/designer value).
  • Stones/pearls aren’t included in the metal value — if you’d like to keep stones for remodelling, we can talk through options in your appointment.
  • Metal prices change daily, so valuations can’t be held without confirmation.
  • We will not hold any metal that is not required towards the final credit.
